Dimitris Xalivelakis as a journalist:
- He worked from 1956-1991 in Athenian daily newspapers and for specialized political stories.
- For the last three years he writes an article every Saturday in the Athenian newspaper "Vradini", named "Spiritual subjects".
- In 2000 he was awarded by the "Insitution of promotion of Journalism, Athanasios Botsis" for his journalism and his attribution to teaching journalism.
- He has been a member of the board of directors of the Union of Daily Athenian Newspapers Publishers (ESHEA).
Dimitris Xalivelakis as an author/writer:
- Except from the three books described above, he has written another three.
- He has been a member of the Board of the Greek Writers.
- In 2001 he took his firs prize for his short story " The passages", in a Greek contest of short stories by the Greek Resistance Organization.
- The University of Sofia asked in 1995 the books of the writer in order to place them in their library, under the Greek Modern Writers section.
- He wrote in 1996 a script for Microsculpture which was made into a documentary from national television (ERT) and has been played 6 times since 1997 on television.
- On October 14, 2010, Dimitris Xalivelakis was assigned Secretary General of the Hellenic Literary Society, for a period of two years.
